Online Tutoring

Monday, 13 April 2009 21:50 - Leann, Parent

My daughter struggled with pre-algebra during her 7th grade year. There are no tutoring centers in our area which could help her.

I searched for a program that would teach to her using visual techniques and I found KIS Math Center online. We drove into the center to visit and meet her instructor. KIS Math Center was the right place for my daughter. Thank you KIS for your online program. It worked for us!! Killeen, Texas Parent

Virtual Tutoring Saved Us

Monday, 13 April 2009 21:50 - Leann, Parent Staying focused in the classroom has been a struggle for my son. He has struggled to learn math and develop good reading skills.

My son attended the KIS Math Center in Buda/Kyle and worked privately on reading and math for about a year. When we moved further away, and while he visited his father out of town, my son began the online tutoring program. His tutor was surprised at the differenced how the online tutoring affected his attention span. He was engaged the whole time and progressed even faster. He even began doing his homework on his own. KIS, thanks for your diligence and support for my son. You have made a difference in his life.

Success in Jr. High Math

My daughter Barbara was diagnosed with ADD in the third grade. She struggled with Reading and Math during that time. By 4th grade she had overcame her reading problems and walks around with a book in hand to this day.

Her math was a different story. We had tried tutoring at school and she just was not getting it. Here we were in the 6th grade and still have not passed the TAKS test. She was becoming discouraged and thinking she was stupid. Kids were making fun of her because she did not get it. I knew I had to do something. I started researching on the internet for special tutoring and I came across "Keep it Simple". They talked about the right brain thinking and the left brain thinking. I was so excited and I started her immediately. I enrolled her in the summer of her 7th grade year. The tutors tested Barbara and found she had a lot of holes in her foundation for math. So they started with the very basics and re-taught her to give her the foundation she needed. The tutors were very patient and believed in my daughter.

Barbara is now in her 8th grade year and I am very excited to share a report from her math teacher below:

"Thank you for your e-mail. Barbara is such a strong math student. She is doing wonderfully this first part of the school year. She currently has a 91 in class with two more grades to go on this six weeks grade. If she continues at this growth, we may need to discuss her taking Pre-AP Algebra next year. Just some thing to keep in the back of your mind. She is also so sweet and kind. You should be very proud."

As a mother I can tell you "Keep it Simple" works! They rebuilt her foundation in Math.

P.S. Barbara received a certificate from her school yesterday it says:

8th Grade Team Superstar Award Special recognition for being a quiet leader and strong mathematician who gives 100% effort every single day during the first and second six-week grading period.

WOW what a difference 6 weeks makes. Phil was great in explaining algebra to my daughter in a way she could understand! She went from a 72 last 6 weeks to an 84 this time around - made a 97 on her final! This clearly shows her better comprehension of the work. We will be back should we need the help again. I will definitely recommend you guys. Thank you Phil!

I got a call today from a student 3 years ago. She said she has been getting A's in math ever since tutoring. She still uses the tools I taught her. She thanked me for teaching her the pictures, stories and songs that help her do her math. She finished 7th grade algebra with an A-. When she entered tutoring she had very little math skills and had been failing 4th grade math. She has come a long way from that day.

Emile is doing well in math. He had a 93 the first semester and a 90 this semester! The teacher says he is one of his stronger math students!

Acing Algebra 1

Friday, 10 April 2009 14:07 - Sharon Watts

She was tutored at KIS in Buda / Kyle last spring after struggling to pass in 8th grade! Her current math teacher told her that she could move up to Pre-AP because she has such a good handle on algebra. It is not the kind of comment she is accustomed to hearing from her math teachers...

We would not hesitate to recommend KIS (especially for any ADD/ADHD/Dyslexic right brained learner type), the difference in our home life is amazing! I am sure we will be back for Algebra II!

The KIS Math Solutions program has helped our son so much. He was really struggling with Algebra 1 and did not understand much of it. This program and the wonderful teachers Zachary had got him completely caught up on the basic math skills he was lacking. They helped him tremendously and taught him math in a way he could understand. We feel so fortunate to have found "keep it simple" Education Center!

Zach says, "KIS teachers explained math to me in a way I could understand. KIS teachers were very nice and I appreciate what they did for me!"
